My pregnancy journey so far (Ongoing 2nd Trimester) has been a mixture of emotions — Fear,Joy, anxiety, anticipation, and growth with some hiccups as I had miscarriage from my 1st pregnancy which was supported by Dr.Seema Jain to be mentally ready post reviewing the scan results. We were bit skeptical about making few decisions about the fertility treatment, However Dr.Seema Ma'am made sure we are well informed and clear about the alternative path to conceive .Later within couple of months I was able to conceive under guidance of Doctor. My appointments have been timely and informative.I appreciate clear communication and guidance during each month of my pregnancy journey so far.Ultrasound and lab test processes were smooth and efficient and reports were discussed and if there were any red flags it was addressed by Dr. Whenever we contacted the medical staff/Assistant Doctor we got the required support in our crucial/Emergency situation.Since its time for Pre natal Yoga,I had enrolled in further assistance which covered Topics like Prenatal yoga, Mental well being,Types of Delivery, Garbhasanskar, labor preparation, breastfeeding, and newborn care were covered well.I feel supported in managing pregnancy-related discomforts (Vomiting, nausea, etc.). as Doctor is available to address the queries.I am being guided well on supplements, and red flags to watch for.I'm thankful for the journey so far and hoping for a safe and smooth delivery.

Choosing Cloudnine Hospital was one of the most important and emotional decisions of our lives—and we are so grateful we did. From the very first consultation, the entire team showed exceptional compassion, professionalism, and expertise.Dr Seema Jain took the time to thoroughly explain every step of the process and never made us feel rushed or uninformed. We appreciated their honesty, their evidence-based approach, and their constant encouragement through what can be a very challenging journey. The nursing staff and support team were equally amazing—always available to answer questions, offer reassurance, and celebrate small milestones with us. The clinic was clean, well-organised, and ran efficiently, but still felt personal and warm. Thanks to the care and dedication of the team at Cloudnine Hospital and we couldn’t be more thankful.

We started consulting Dr. Seema Jain for ART treatment in 2024 since we had trouble conceiving. Considering we had crossed 34 years of age and our medical reports, she had suggested to proceed directly for IVF rather than trying other simpler treatments first. We were a bit concerned about directly starting IVF treatments but we decided to follow her advice. It took a few attempts, but we were finally able to successfully conceive in the third attempt. Over all these attempts, Dr. Seema ensured to modify the course of treatment after each attempt to maximize our chance of conception. Looking back now, we are glad we decided to follow her initial advice. Throughout our journey over the past year, Dr. Seema & her team have been readily available to address our concerns and queries. We sincerely recommend Dr. Seema Jain for your journey to parenthood.

Our journey to becoming parents began in 2021, and honestly, for a long time we wanted to believe it would be a straight shot, after each trial. After trying on our own for a bit, we explored options like a laparoscopy and IUI. When those didn't help, in late 2023, IVF became our next big step under Dr. Seema Jain. Our first embryo transfer didn't go well, which was a huge blow. We dusted ourselves off and tried again, and our second transfer actually resulted in a pregnancy, but heartbreakingly, the numbers weren't quite right, meaning another loss. Then, the third transfer also failed, leaving us feeling pretty worn out and wondering if this was even going to happen for us.Through all those tough moments, our fertility team was supportive. They were so good about explaining everything, no matter how many questions we threw at them. Their medical team's knowledge and genuinely caring approach really helped us make sense of all the complicated stuff and get through those incredibly difficult decisions. After those initial struggles, we went through another egg retrieval, and thankfully, we ended up with six healthy embryos. We decided to hit pause for a while, which was probably the best decision we made. That break gave us time to recharge emotionally and mentally. When we felt ready, we went for our very first frozen embryo transfer, and to our absolute disbelief and joy, it worked! This whole experience taught us so much about not giving up! Our strongest takeaway message for any couple fertility treatments is this: stand strong together, believe in your own journey, and remember that with the right guidance, everything is possible. Trusting your instincts, when things are tough, is just as vital as the medical treatments themselves. We're incredibly thankful to Dr. Seema Jain and her entire team who stood by us all the time.

My journey to motherhood was a long one—two years filled with ups and downs, uncertainty, and emotional moments. But throughout this challenging time, Dr. Seema Jain was a constant source of hope and positivity 💫.What truly stood out about her was her unwavering optimism. Even when treatments didn’t work or we faced setbacks, she never gave up on me. She never used negative words or made me feel like I was the problem. Instead, she always said, “We will try again.” That hope she gave me, time and again, is something I will never forget 🌈.Today, I am blessed with a healthy baby boy 👶🏻, conceived naturally—and I truly believe it was possible because of the treatments and guidance I received from her. It was her careful approach, her encouragement, and her belief in me that made this miracle happen 💖.Another remarkable aspect of my experience was the incredible support from the entire office staff. They were always warm, well-organized, and attentive, ensuring that every visit was smooth and stress-free. It’s truly rare to come across a doctor whose dedication is so perfectly matched by a team that shares the same compassion and professionalism 🙌🏼.I am deeply grateful to Dr. Seema Jain—not just for her medical expertise, but for her compassion, patience, and positivitythroughout my entire journey. She is not just a doctor; she is a true blessing for anyone hoping to become a parent 🙏🏼✨.

It was the best experience with Dr.Seema Jain. She understands your problem and issues and then opts for the treatment. We are in contact with Dr. Seema Jain since 2021. With her guidance and support we conceived in our first try but had to terminate the pregnancy due to some issues. But she never lost hope and again we gave a fresh start and this time we conceived again and that too blessed with twins. The journey still was a bit difficult for us but still Dr. Seema Jain made sure that everything goes smoothly for us. In the last trimester, Due to high BP doctor advised us to go for a c-section in 36 weeks. Me and my husband were a bit nervous but again she as a super women made everything easy for us and under her guidance we delivered a baby girl and baby boy. Thank you so much Doctor for the support and guidance.

I have been a patient of Dr. Seema since 2020. I randomly had gone to get my ovaries health checked before planning for a baby and to my surprise I found that i wasn't ovulating regularly. Dr Seema patiently explained me the root cause of it with solution. She started with some guidance than jumping onto medicines directly. After some relief from covid chaos I went to her again with negative pregnancy test and that's when she suggested me to start with some low dozed medications. Due to her expertise and faith I kept on moving along with her plan patiently and one day finally saw two pink lines on the test kit. When I showed her that kit she was immensely happy for us. I trust her with treatment and support. She has always been kind to me and kept encouraging me to embrace my pregnancy journey. Another important factor is she pushes for normal delivery...which is great. Not to forget her staff has always been supportive and helpful. Always smiling and greeting you. Few months back we were blessed with a baby boy. I am thankful to Dr. Seema Jain for giving us the chance to become happy parents to our child. Lots of love to you ma'am. 🥰🥰

Introduction: Why Supplements Matter Before Conception

Preparing for pregnancy is about more than just timing and planning. The foundation of a healthy pregnancy starts even before conception. A woman’s body requires adequate levels of essential vitamins and minerals to support ovulation, hormonal balance, and early fetal development. Nutrient deficiencies during this critical period can affect fertility, conception rates, and the health of both mother and baby.

This is where preconception supplements play a crucial role. According to Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, proper supplementation not only enhances reproductive health but also minimizes the risk of congenital anomalies and pregnancy complications.

By understanding which supplements are vital and how they contribute to reproductive wellness, women can make informed decisions about their preconception care.

Nutrition

  • Folate/folic acid: Start at least 400–600 µg/day before conception and continue early. Folate supports neural tube development.
  • Balanced macro- and micro-nutrients: Emphasise lean protein, whole grains, vegetables, fruit, low-fat dairy, healthy fats. The guideline: only about +300 kcal/day extra in early pregnancy.
  • Foods to avoid: Raw/undercooked meat, soft cheeses, high-mercury fish, excessive caffeine, alcohol and smoking.

Lifestyle

  • Exercise: Moderate exercise 30 minutes, 3-4 days/week (e.g., walking, swimming, prenatal yoga) unless contraindicated.

Top Supplements Every Woman Should Take Before Pregnancy

Below is a detailed look at the most essential supplements recommended before pregnancy and how they contribute to reproductive and fetal health.

  1. Folic Acid

Folic acid is the cornerstone of preconception supplementation. It plays a vital role in DNA synthesis and cell growth. Adequate intake before conception reduces the risk of neural tube defects such as spina bifida.

Recommended Dose: 400–800 mcg daily.
Key Benefits:

  • Supports the early formation of the baby’s brain and spinal cord
  • Improves egg quality
  • Reduces risk of miscarriage

Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, emphasizes that women should start folic acid supplementation at least three months before trying to conceive.

  1. Iron

Iron supports oxygen transport and energy metabolism, which are essential for a healthy pregnancy. Women with iron deficiency are at risk of anemia, which can impair ovulation and early embryo development.

Recommended Dose: 27 mg per day.
Benefits:

  • Prevents fatigue and weakness
  • Enhances oxygen delivery to reproductive organs
  • Supports proper placental growth

Iron absorption improves when combined with Vitamin C-rich foods.

  1. Vitamin D

Vitamin D is essential for hormone regulation and calcium absorption. Low Vitamin D levels are linked to infertility, gestational diabetes, and preeclampsia.

Recommended Dose: 600–1000 IU daily.
Benefits:

  • Supports reproductive hormone balance
  • Strengthens bones for both mother and fetus
  • Improves immune system function

According to Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, Vitamin D supplementation is particularly vital for women with limited sunlight exposure.

  1. Calcium

Calcium supports the development of the baby’s bones, teeth, and heart while maintaining maternal bone density.

Recommended Dose: 1000–1200 mg per day.
Benefits:

  • Prevents maternal bone loss
  • Ensures proper nerve and muscle function
  • Reduces the risk of hypertension during pregnancy

Combining calcium with Vitamin D improves absorption.

  1. Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA and EPA, are essential for fetal brain and eye development. They also help reduce inflammation and support hormone production.

Recommended Dose: 250–500 mg of DHA + EPA daily.
Benefits:

  • Enhances egg quality
  • Supports cardiovascular health
  • Reduces risk of preterm birth

Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, often recommends fish oil or algae-based omega-3 supplements for women who do not consume fish regularly.

  1. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)

CoQ10 enhances cellular energy and improves egg quality, especially in women over 30. It acts as a powerful antioxidant that protects reproductive cells from oxidative damage.

Recommended Dose: 100–300 mg daily.
Benefits:

  • Improves mitochondrial function in eggs
  • Supports embryo implantation
  • Reduces oxidative stress in ovaries

  1. Iodine

Iodine supports thyroid function, which regulates metabolism and reproductive hormones. Deficiency during preconception can affect brain development in the fetus.

Recommended Dose: 150 mcg daily.
Benefits:

  • Maintains thyroid hormone production
  • Prevents developmental delays
  • Supports healthy metabolism in pregnancy

FAQs Most Frequent Asked Questions

Women should ideally start supplementation at least three to six months before conception. This allows the body to build adequate nutrient stores and optimize reproductive function. Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, recommends early supplementation to prepare for rapid cellular changes that occur immediately after fertilization.

Supplements are designed to support, not replace, a healthy diet. Whole foods provide fiber, phytonutrients, and natural compounds that supplements cannot replicate. However, for women with dietary restrictions or medical conditions, supplements help bridge nutritional gaps. Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, stresses the importance of combining both for the best results.

Not necessarily. Some prenatal vitamins are formulated specifically for pregnancy and may contain higher doses of certain nutrients. For the preconception phase, it’s best to use a balanced supplement with controlled doses. Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, recommends discussing label ingredients with a qualified doctor before use.

Yes. Over-supplementation can be harmful. For example, excessive Vitamin A can cause fetal toxicity, and too much iron can cause oxidative stress. Therefore, Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, advises patients to undergo blood tests and follow medically guided dosages rather than self-medication.

Antioxidants like CoQ10, Vitamin E, and selenium protect reproductive cells from oxidative stress, a major cause of reduced egg and sperm quality. Dr. Seema Jain, Best Gynaecologist at Ravet, highlights that antioxidants improve mitochondrial energy and enhance embryo viability, increasing chances of successful conception.
